Recent internal data shows $476 million in land and other rural acreage for sale for sale in the Bluegrass State. This represents a combined 95,396 acres of land for sale in the state. The most expensive property listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $8 million, while the median price for land and rural property for sale in Kentucky was $245,514. The average price of land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale in Kentucky was $333,978. There was 1,404 acres of sold land in Kentucky recorded last month through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a decrease in sales activity over April 2018 data. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $7.3 million. Kentucky gets rugged fast and lives up to its heritage as a hunting and fishing paradise. Hunters can choose from over 80 wildlife management areas as well as the sprawling Daniel Boone National Forest and Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Eastern Kentucky is home to the largest elk herd in the eastern United States, while other species include wild turkey and white-tailed deer and coyote. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Kentucky. U.S. News & World Report ranks Kentucky as one of the country's top ten states for its cost of living. Of the 120 counties in the state, Pulaski County had the most land and farms for sale. In terms of its size, Kentucky is the country's 37th-largest state, covering an area of 40,411 square miles (26 million acres). In its entirety, 39,486 square miles (98 percent) is made up of land, while the remaining 921 square miles comprises water.
